Why do you love your job?

Live-in care is my passion, I love to help people who are in need. I love this job because supporting people in an environment they’re familiar with enables me to spend more time with the service user, meaning more meaningful and worthwhile relationships can be built.

What’s your approach to caring?

I believe taking a holistic approach to every individual is what makes a good carer. What is the impact of being a support worker? Especially in an island community.

I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others by providing them with the support they need to live independently or to overcome challenges they are facing.

Also living in a world of cultural diversity, my attributes and beliefs can reflect or transform positively to the society or community I found myself.

One might need a good listener or someone with good communication skills to help them achieve their common goals in life, which can have an impact on an island community and can aid in people understanding their potential.

What made you join the care sector?

Being a carer gives me the opportunity to be who I was created to be - very compassionate, with the ability to translate empathic feelings into action. I have the knack for putting people at ease, making them happy, and contributing to their general wellbeing and the life they live.

What do you love about your job?

The fact that the results are immediate - seeing the people I support happy and satisfied is what I enjoy most.

It’s the intangible that really can't be quantified with any metric and this motivates me to do more.

There's just so much pain in the world, I'd rather contribute to helping others.

Caregiving is a huge personal accomplishment and remains one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I enjoy giving companionship, especially to the elderly. I grew up in a home taking care of my grandparents. They suffered from Diabetes, so they were on special diets. Just getting to chat and listening to their stories made me realize how Important it is to care for them at such an age. I enjoy the slow walks too.

What do you love about your job?

I am a good listener and I enjoy lending my ear to service users. I also enjoy travelling, going window shopping, and lunch dates.
