Frequently Asked Questions

What services are on offer?

We offer respite care, emergency support, short term, interim and 24-hour care.

How much does it cost?

Our care service costs vary depending on service, hours, and complexity of care. Please refer to our PRICE LIST for detailed information.

What kind of things would the carer do?

Examples of things a carer would do for you include: basic housekeeping, personal care, shopping, library, cooking meals, taking you to appointments, and accompanying you to any activities you enjoy. They are also there to provide companionship, not just care, which we find is something very much appreciated by our clients.

Is there anything a carer doesn’t do?

The carer is not there to provide housekeeping or cook meals for the whole family. Their job is to support YOU.

How many carers would come to my house over 24 hours?

Only one. We make sure to provide the same person for a period of two weeks, which also allows you and your carer to build a relationship.

Are carers part of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme?

Yes, they have all had PVG checks carried out and the organisation is registered with the Care Inspectorate.

Can the carers give me my medication?

Yes. Carers are trained and can administer medication.

What locations do you cover?

We have a liscence to cover the whole of Scotland. We are able to provide carers in remote areas as well, where maybe some other care services cannot cover.

What would the carer need from me?

For overnight care, the carer would need somewhere to sleep, therefore you would need to have an extra room. They will also need to take a couple of hours off each day, but it can be broken down to two hour-long breaks. They would also normally eat with you, and would be making food for the two of you at the same time.

Do you take clients for self-directed support?

Yes, we do. We therefore recommend that you get in touch with social services at your local council, if you are interested in exploring how your council can support you with the cost of care.

How will my money be spent?

We are a social enterprise and that means that ALL OUR PROFITS GO TO OUR CHARITY BEFRIENDING SERVICE.

How quickly can a carer be placed?

In case of an emergency, speak to us and we can arrange carers according to your needs.
